Bubble Trubble in Connecticut; Movie Shot At Quassy

11/29/2007

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – It was “lights, camera, action” this past summer at Quassy Amusement Park as the lakeside facility was used for a location shoot for a feature film scheduled to be released early next year. “Bubble Trubble,” a feature film by children, for children, is now in post production with a projected release date of March 2008. A preview (trailer) for the film is now live on the movie’s Web site at www.bubbletrubblethemovie.com and features scenes shot at Quassy. The film’s crew was at the park in June and July shooting a variety of scenes that will appear in the movie, incorporating much of the park’s nostalgic atmosphere. Park guests were treated to watching a Hollywood-like setting emerge around rides such as the classic Allan Herschell “Monster” roller coaster, “Tilt-A-Whirl” and bumper cars. Other segments of the film were shot in western Massachusetts by New York-based director/producer Sonia Arrubla and crew. The cast for “Bubble Trubble” consists of children ages 7 to 15. In 2006 Quassy was the setting for shooting an episode of “Ham On The Street,” a popular weekly program on television’s Food Network. The show, starring host George Duran, aired several times during the 2006 holiday season. Quassy Amusement Park will mark “100 Years Of Fun” in 2008 as the facility celebrates its centennial. Founded in 1908, Quassy is recognized at one of 11 remaining trolley parks in the nation and has been owned by the same family since 1937.
